Torre ‘De Li Beli Miri’
In the village of Teglio
Situated on the ridge to the south of the village, which once housed the Castrum Tilii – Castello di Teglio -, the tower “de li beli miri” is considered the symbol of Teglio.
The Roman construction is all that remains of the medieval castle rebuilt on the ruins of an earlier Roman one and is a perfect example of medieval military architecture, with a square plan, numerous loopholes and the usual raised access.
The tower, immersed in the green of the pine forest, is a splendid vantage point from which to admire the valley. Thanks to an internal staircase, the result of recent restoration work, it is possible to reach the top and enjoy the spectacular view.
Next to the tower is the church of Santo Stefano, which was once the chapel of Castrum Tilii.
The tower “de li beli miri” can only be visited from the outside.
